FIERA DI SAN MARTINO: BETWEEN TRADITION AND MODERNITY

admin | 4 October 2022 | 0 | Our Events

The Fiera di San Martino is one of the most awaited events by the inhabitants of Latisana and around. It was born in ancient times as a cattle fair and in fact, the cult of San Martino is linked to agricultural practices. Over the years, the exhibition has adapted to the commercial changes that have characterized Latisana.

The Fiera di San Martino attracts a large number of people to the town, especially from neighbouring villages: you can have fun inside the Luna Park, walk along the stands with sweets, pancakes and peanuts, play fishing for charity and stroll among the numerous stalls that animate the streets of the town.

This event creates in Latisana an atmosphere of celebration and joy, both for children and adults.

When you want to take a tasty break, right in the center of the fair, in Piazza Indipendenza, you can find “The Festa of the pumpkin and the new wine”, an enogastronomic event, with the aim of recalling the ancient peasant traditions. You can taste dishes with pumpkin, mulled wine, chestnuts and new wine from the wineries of the Doc Friuli Latisana area.

The event is organized by the municipal administration in collaboration with the Pro Latisana Association.

A LITTLE CURIOSITY

The poster of the Fiera di San Martino is always different.

Every year, children and teenagers from the schools of Latisana draw what this evemt means for them. During the celebrations, the best drawing is awarded as “Drawing for San Martino” and used the following year in the official graphics of the event.
